Top 3 Outdoor Summer Activities in Indy
Indianapolis has no shortage of vibrant and exciting nightlife destinations, and summer has always been the best time to explore and take advantage of them. However, this summer is different, and most residents are looking to alternatives to their normal nightlife activities. That’s why our team at Indy JoyRides has put together a list of things you can do outside this summer to have fun with your friends in a safer way.
1. Outdoor Dining Options
Most people agree that it’s currently safer to dine outdoors in the sun and fresh air than to dine inside. Also, there’s the added bonus of the fun and romantic outdoor atmosphere. Here are a few of our favorite spots with patios:
Bluebeard: Located in Fletcher Place, this Kurt Vonnegut-inspired restaurant offers contemporary, Italian-style cuisine in a cozy yet modern outdoor atmosphere. Snacks, charcuteries, and cheeses are offered on a menu that changes daily.
Public Greens: Located along the Monon Trail in Broad Ripple, this restaurant offers dishes prepared from food growing in an onsite garden! Not only are the dishes fresh and delicious, but all of the proceeds go to the Patachou Foundation, which works to feed healthy meals to children in our community who suffer from food insecurity.
BRU Burger: This popular Mass Ave restaurant has a lengthy list of creative burgers, from a Mexicali BBQ burger to a burger with a fried egg on top.
2. Topgolf
While technically inside a building, you’ll be able to safely social distance in your own “bay” that opens to the outside. Topgolf is a game that anyone can play (and win). Score points by hitting micro-chipped golf balls at giant dartboard-like targets on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the centre, or ‘bullseye’, and the further the distance, the more points earned. Food and drinks are also served while you play.
3. Visit the Canal
The Canal Walk in downtown Indy is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Rent a pedal boat or kayak, and explore the downtown area in a fun and unique way. If boating isn’t your thing, you can also rent bikes or take a Segway tour.
If you’re looking to add to your summer fun, why not rent a party bus with your friends and head to one of these destinations? No need to hassle with finding parking or designating a driver.
